Based at the Port of Broome, KPA directly manages the provision of port services in Broome and has regulatory responsibility for the Ports of Wyndham, Derby and Yampi Sound. KPA's workforce is diverse and perform numerous duties including: stevedoring, mooring and un-mooring, maintenance and Port assets as well as the full scope of office based and specialty roles in support of all Port Authority functions. Employees require a high level of skills and must comply with a range of comprehensive safety guidelines.

Certified training is provided for job requirements, and on-site training is carried out by certified Trainers and Assessors in a range of Standard Operating Procedures. An Education Assistance Procedure enables permanent employees to access assistance to further their education.
