All activities requiring permits should be submitted to and authorised by the Operations department. Some permits can be completed online (see bolded and capitalised links below) and other permits are to be provided to the Operations department at 549 Port Drive, or via e-mail to: operations@kimberleyports.wa.gov.au

Permit applications:
- Abrasive Blasting & Spray Painting Works Permit - required for any work to be performed using abrasive blasting and spray painting. Note: This permit is not required for work in the Workshop area unless the work is related to a storage tanker, vessel etc. See below for a Slipway Spray Painting Permit.
- Bulks Transfer Work Permit – is to be completed prior to any bulks being loaded or discharged including waste bulk products.
- Bunker Permit – is for the purpose of obtaining permission to conduct bunkering, including through bowsers, of any fuel within Port limits excluding Oil Tanker discharge.
- Confined Spaces Work Permit – is required for entering a space that has inadequate ventilation, access or both; or which may contain flammable or injurious liquids, gases, vapours, dust or insufficient oxygen to sustain life, or falls under the categorisation in AS 2885.
- Diving Work Permit - is required for any work to be performed underwater.
- Electrical Work Permit - required for any work to be performed on electrical equipment. Note: A Work Permit is not required for general routine maintenance such as light globe replacement, electrical tagging of equipment etc.
- Excavation and Penetration Works Permit – required for any work to be performed that will dig deeper than 150mm by hand or with any mechanical device.
- General Work Permit- required for any work to be performed that is identified as non-routine maintenance work with safety and environmental hazard potential, e.g. high pressure water jetting, removal of handrails/gratings/fixed ladders, pressure testing (all situations), any work involving spraying pesticides or insecticides, and any work being conducted at the Slipway including crane operations and the launch and retrieval of vessels.
- Hot Work Permit – required for any work to be performed that will cause or has the potential to provide an ignition source. Hot work activities include: soldering irons, grinding, welding (cutting and burning), use of hydraulic power or air powered metal cutting and work involving open flames. Note: A hot work permit is not required for hot work in the workshop area unless the work is related to a storage of tanker/vessel (confined space).
- Permission to Immobilise – required for all vessels immobilising main engine machinery or thrusters that will impair a vessels manoeuvrability in order to depart a berth.
- Slipway Spray Painting Permit – required for any spray painting work at the Slipway.
- Working at Heights, Over the Side and Workbox Work Permit – required for any work to be performed where there is a risk of injury from falling, for any work to be performed using a forklift workbox and for work to be performed using a workbox and crane.
